Black Charm fancied

"The Press’’ Special Service WELLINGTON. The track specialist. Black Charm, may be the hardest to beat in the Dr Simmons Memorial Handicap, first leg of the T.A.B. double at Wanganui today. Black Charm, now in the twilight of her career, has an enviable record in the central districts. She is trained at Takanini by L. Bunn, but most of her wins have been on courses in the central districts, notably Wanganui.

She is in top form. After winning at the Hawera meeting two starts back, she only Just went under to Arcon at Hastings on Saturday. In between, she finished seventh on the first day at Hastings. Heckle’s Choice, second to Black Charm at his most recent outing, should race well again. He has yet to show his best in open company, but judging by

his run at Hawera he looks close ■ to his best. Arcon, a double winner at Wanganui earlier in the season, came back to form with a third then a win at Hastings. He looks tough to beat again. Whakamoa is another which has raced well at Wanganui before. The 10-year-old won at Hastings two starts back, although he did not run as well there on Saturday. In the second leg, the Patea Handicap, the consistent Walter should take beating. From the successful stable of I. Robinson at Matangi, Walter has not won for some time but recently he has indicated that success may not be far away. Min Tide, which won well In the mud at the Hawera meeting should run close again. On firm ground Richard The First failed to run on at Hastings, running only seventh, but he should be better suited by any give in track conditions.
