Study of Beaton

In “Beaton by Bailey,” Cecil Beaton is the camera’s subject and not the man behind the camera.

In this I.T.C. documentary the producer and interviewer is David Bailey, one of the most brilliant of the younger generation of photographers in Britain.

The programme is a film Cortrait of Cecil Beaton and e is seen partly through the famous people he has photographed — models such as Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy recall their portrait sessions with him, and other celebrities appearing include Rudolph Nureyev, Lord David Cecil and Mick Jagger. Throughout this study of Beaton, we also gain an insight into David Bailey at work with his camera.

“Beaton by Bailey” was directed by William Verity and screens from CHTV3 on Sunday.
