LONDON, July 3.
Free first-class travel for the girl friends of bachelor members of Parliament will be urged in the House of Commons this week. Girl friends should have the same free travel facilities now enjoyed by M.P.s’ wives, according to Mr Leslie Huckfield, a bachelor Labour member, who is 30. He has tabled Commons questions pressing for girl friends to be given 10 free first-class travel warrants a year between their homes. Westminister and the M.P.s’ constituencies, just as wives enjoy now.
“I could find use for at least 10 warrants a year, for different girls—it all depends upon the time of year. If people in the constituency don’t see a girl around occasionally, they start to wonder about you.”
