FORECAST CHART FOR NOON TODAY
SITUATION AT 8 P.M. A small depression in the south Tasman Sea is expected to lie to the east of the South Island later in the day causing rather cold south-westerlies to spread north over the South Island; this change may reach the south of the North Island tonight. FORECASTS: CANTERBURY and KAIKOURA COAST.—Light to moderate westerly winds at first with showers in the western ranges but fine elsewhere; a change to cool, fresh south-westerlies and showers is expected to spread north this afternoon. BULLER and WESTLAND.—Moderate south-westerlies developing; unsettled and cool with showery periods; thunderstorms still likely in the ranges. NELSON and MARLBOROUGH— Westerly winds freshening at times but mainly light or moderate; showers about the main ranges, isolated light falls elsewhere; moderate temperatures. OUTLOOK.—Scattered showers and rather cool.
