Wolfenden to leave

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. P. T. Wolfenden, the top Auckland reinsman and winner of the national driver’s championship for five successive years until this season, will quit trotting in New Zealand. He said last night he had decided to accept an offer by Mr J. Honan, of Canowindra, New South Wales. “He made me a very attractive proposition and there are far more opportunities in Australia than in New Zealand,” Wolfenden said.

“Really, it’s pretty hopeless here with so few meetings. The long winter break without any meetings at all in the North Island is just about crippling for professional trainers and drivers.” He will leave in about one month.
