CAR ON FIRE

A small car burst into flames on a back road near Geraldine on Saturday morning while it was being driven by a young Christchurch man. Mr T. R. Williams, the owner and driver of the car, said that he had left Christchurch early on Saturday morning with three passengers for a week-end’s ski-ing and after he had driven through Geraldine about 8.30 a.m. the car had suddenly burst into flames. “I braked immediately and switched everything off,” Mr Williams said. “We managed to save almost everything out of the car, includifig the skis on the roof.” Mr Williams said that the car had been well serviced and maintained, and he could not think of any reason for the fire. i The car was burnt out.
