Carlton scored in each half and kept the Rawhiti forwards contained in close defence within the Carlton circle. Rawhiti’s forwards looked the, more effective of the two lines, ! working together and anticipate Ing well. Carlton used Its two inside, forwards as main attackers. J. Horton showed great speed in the Carlton line, but often found herself alone and surrounded by the defence when she reached Rawhiti’s circle. It was close to half-time when the first goal came from the rightwing, M. Paterson. Not far into the second half J. Wilson put Carlton further ahead. Rawhiti attacked the Carlton goal from all sides of the circle, but it was not until close to fulltime that C. Hulston netted from a deep centre. Umpires: Miss B. Mak inson and K. Chapman. DIGBY'S v HAREWOOD In a game placed at a quick pace with periods of constructive hockey, Digby’s found it had the edge in the forwards and made the most of this. Davies and J Allen, persevered with little support | from its other forwards i S. Comer at centre-half had an outstanding game. Her tackling and passing were close to perfect, and it was she who' set up most of Bumside’s attacks. Aranui’s forwards did not combine as well as Burnside’.-, relying on speedy burst- b\ S.
