Loss for N.Z. polo side

(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) SALISBURY.

A Rhodesian B polo team snatched a 10-8 win against a New Zealand team in Salisbury on Saturday. The Rhodesians plucked their win from a four-chukka deadlock in the last period with P. Kemple hitting the decisive two goals. The home side was forced to drive from its goal-line six times—but the New Zealand team faced the same task no less than 15 times during the eightchukka match. There was too much loose riding, and the New Zealanders were only saved from a sound thrashing by the Rhodesians’ inability to hit for goal accurately. The New Zealand side fought back from being 0-3 down to a 4-3 lead, and at the eighth chukka, the score stood at 8-8. The game seemed destined for extra time until Kemple’s two goals. The New Zealanders, riding strange ponies, showed fine control in the saddle with D. Kirkpatrick particularly impressive. The team’s goals were scored by KirkI patrick (5), J. Walker (2) and IJ. Barrett.
