Woolston School hall opened

Three years of fund raising by the Woolston School Hall Committee bore fruit yesterday when Mr T. M. McGuigan, the member of Parliament for Lyttleton, officially opened the school’s new assembly hall. The picture shows those who attended the opening. The hall committee, formed from members of the Woolston District Improvement Association, the Returned Services’ Association, the parentteacher association and the school committee, raised about $ll,OOO towards the hall, and the Government provided $BOOO. The building cost $16,000, so that there was sufficient finance left to equip the hall. Apart from general assemblies, the hall will be used for school activities such as indoor sports, and evening functions.
