Buses to ferry
Special buses carried passengers from the Christchurch railway station to the inter-island ferry Rangatira last evening because of the decision of railway employees not to man boat trains at the week-end.
The Rangatira’s sailing was delayed half an hour. She sailed just after 9 p.m. The vessel also left for Wellington 30 minutes later than usual on Saturday morning, again to give time for bus passengers to board. The dispute with the railway workers is over the payment of travelling allowances to those who must travel from Christchurch to Lyttelton after hours.
