Visit to Paris

(N.Z. Press Association)

HAMILTON, June 30.

The Mayor of Hamilton (Mr M. Minogue) today agreed in principle to a request from Radio Waikato to go to France to represent the feelings of the people of Waikato in relation to the French nuclear tests.

Mr Minogue will take to France protest letters and signatures totalling nearly 16,000 which have been sent in to the station.

Today he said he saw the trip as an opportunity to establish a working relationship with French organisations keen to see the end of the tests. The radio station is supporting an appeal to finance the trip and is contacting prominent people in other centres with a view to their sending representatives to France to protest against the tests.
