N.Z. has 3 named (N.Z.P.A. staff Comtsponttent) LONDON. The swimmers, M. F. Troffers and Miss S. H. Hunter, and the marathon runner, D. C. McKenzie, are the only New Zealanders named in a list of “1972 best performers” for swimming and athletics, published by "World Sports” magazine. All three rank sixth in their events. Troffers’s time of 16min 32.45ec for 1500 metres freestyle puts him more than 35sec behind the top contender, B. Miss Hunter is ranked sixth in the 400 metros medley with a time of smin 13.4 sec, which is about 6sec behind the top contender. Miss S. Gould (Australia). McKenzie’s marathon time of 2hr 14min llsec is only the sixth best in the world this year, but it is only 81sec behind the best, put up by L. Philipp (West Germany). In between McKenzie and Phillip are two Russians, an East German, and the veteran British runner, R. Hill.
