STOP-WORK MEETINGS
Stewardesses with N.A.C.
(N.Z. Press Association)
AUCKLAND, May 29. National Airways Corporation stewardesses will hold stop-work meetings in three centres next week.
The assistant secretary of the Stewards and Hostesses’ Union (Mr B. Morrison) said today that the girls were worried about the possibility of being attacked while making their way home after finishing work after dark. They want N.A.C. to supply transport home, but the corporation has rejected their claim.
The rejection will be discussed at meetings in Auckland next Tuesday, Wellington on Wednesday and Christchurch on Thursday. Mr Morrison said there had been “one or two instances” of the girls being attacked on their way home; their uniforms seemed to be an attraction.
