SECRETARY IS GAMES CHAPERONE

One of the • stalwarts • of New Zealand gymnastics in the last few years, Mrs D. Fitzsimmons, of Wellington, is the chaperone of the New Zealand team to the Munich Olympic Games. Mrs Fitzsimmons’ nomination came from the gymnastic association, but her interests are not limited to that sport. She is the president of the Wellington Swimming Centre and is active in surf life-saving

administration. She has been involved in swimming for many years. Mrs Fitzsimmons was instrumental in establishing gymnastics on a firm footing in New Zealand after financial problems about five years ago. At that stage she became national secretary and has retained the post since then. The-position of chaperone will.not be a new one for her. In 1962 she was

chaperone of the New Zealand team at the Perth Commonwealth Games.
