Monday play

In “After a Lifetime,” the scene is Liverpool and the story concerns a family in mourning. This new play from London Weekend Television is by Neville Smith. Old Billy Sculley has just died and the play describes the few days up to and including the funeral. Billy’s family—his widow May and two sons—during this period share their memories of the man with his former friends and workmates. Although there is sadness, this is Liverpool and the humour of the Liverpudlians is never far below the surface. Edie Brooks heads the large cast as the widow and one of the sons is played by the author. “After a Lifetime” screens from all channels on Monday evening.
