CAR ASTRAY IN RIVER
A Christchurch woman parked her car in Hanmer Street, Avonside, last evening and returned a half hour later to find it gone. Her first thought was it had been taken by some unauthorised person, but further investigation solved the mystery.
The vehicle had rolled down the slope in Hanmer Street, crossed Avonside Drive, and gone over a bank into the Avon River. A towing firm soon recovered the vehicle, damp, but otherwise undamaged.
