FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anticyclone covers the northern Tasman Sea and a cold front is moving north-east over Southland. Forecast: Marlborough.—North-west winds strong in exposed places but decreasing this afternoon ; cloudy; showers this morning but partly cloudy and mild later. Nelson.—Moderate variable winds; showers about the western ranges ; some showers at first elsewhere but becoming fine and mild. Canterbury.—Moderate south-westerlies for a time this morning but becoming variable; showers in the Alps but elsewhere partly cloudy with moderate temperatures. Buller and Westland.—Moderate westerlies ; occasional showers and fair periods; rather cool. Outlook.—Showery on the West Coast, fair elsewhere.
