The promising young stayer, Bailycastle has come back to racing in such good form that he looks set to win the President’s Handicap at Woodville on Saturday.

A four-year-old by Bally Royal, Bailycastle went through hacks without difficulty early in the season and when he resumed a few weeks ago he quickly regained that form, running third in a sprint a Feilding, then winning over seven furlongs at the Waipukurau meeting at Woodville three weeks ago. He has not raced since then, but obviously he is forward and he does not have to beat a strong field to score his first middle-distance win in open class. Aristoc is a genuine performer which raced well in moderate company at the Wairarapa Easter meeting, and he might be the main danger. Forewarn will be trying for a notable treble in a most un-

usual sprint field for the Telegraph Handicap, second leg of the main double.

Although it will be Forewam’s first start in open class he should achieve the feat
