Airliner crashes

Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copi/rtOht) ADDIS ABABA, April 18. An East African Airlines VCIO on a flight to Rome and London crashed just after take-off at Addis Ababa today. Early reports said that there were 108 passengers aboard. There was no immediate word of injuries. Civil aviation authorities and rescue workers have yet to announce the number of survivors, but witnesses said at least 34 were picked up near the scene of the disaster. A number of survivors were found about 100 yards from the burnt aircraft in a small stream. Apparently they ran there in panic as the plane exploded. Many of the passengers were believed to be British.
