Swimmers honoured
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) WASHINGTON. The Marathon Swimming Federation has announced the election to the organisation’s “hall of fame” of six long-distance swimmers and contributors to the sport. The new members are Miss E. Gray (England), Miss S. El Rageb (Egypt), B. Pereira (Portugal), E. Tiraboschi (Italy), J. Zirganos (Greece), and J. Toomey (United States). Miss Gray was an outstanding marathon swimmer from 1963 until 1969. She won 47 women’s championships at distances from 2.5 to 13 miles, and set 15 British women’s records, six of which still stand.
