Australia, as expected, overpowered South Korea in the doubles match yesterday gained an unbeatable 3-0 lead, and won the right to meet Japan in the final of the Eastern zone A section of the Davis Cup elimination rounds. M. Anderson and G. Masters beat Chung Young-Ho and Kim Moon-11, 7-5, 6-2, 6-2. In the opening singles, Anderson beat Chung 4-6, 6-0, 6-2, 7-5, and C. Dibley defeated Kim Sung-Bae, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Hockey.— Scoring twice in the first half, England went on to beat the Netherlands, 3-1, in their women’s international hockey match at Cheltenham, England, on Saturday. Golf.—The team to represent Mid-South Canterbury in the Freyberg Rose Bowl golf series at Napier next month is: K. C. Murray. G. D. Brown, A. C. Browne, G. Maw, and I. F. Beswarick. Soccer.—lreland beat Wales, 3-0, in an amateur soccer international on Saturday.
