It will be the first visit • of a Minister of Health to the hospital since 1963. Last month the North Can- ’ terbury Hospital Board wrote i tb the Health Department, ■ offering to take over the hos- . pital, subjeet to a survey and I satisfactory finance. 1 The deputy directorgeneral of health (Dr I G. Balke-Palmer) sub- ; sequently informed the hospital board that the department was prepared to continue to provide finance at the present level if, after the survey, the board was satisfied that it could take over the administration of the hospital and provide adequate professional staff. ■ The executive staff of the 1 North Canterbury Hospital 1 Borad will visit the hospital ' on April 5.
