Probation for thefts

Three girls who admitted stealing articles worth *216 were released on probation for 18 months when they appeared for sentence before Mr P. L. Mollneaux, S.M., in the Children’s Court yesterday. Sergeant R. S. Morgan said that the articles, which Included perfume, jewellery, handkerchiefs, souvenirs, a clock, a frock, and a wig, were taken from several Christchurch stores between March 1 and March 15. All had been recovered. Two of the girls were aged 15 and the other 16.

The Magistrate said that if the girls continued to offend they would be sent to Borstal.
