FIREFIGHTERS ON BICYCLES.—Firemen in the densely-populated Shinjuku district of Tokyo have been issued with bicycles equipped with loud-speakers and fire-extinguishers. The authorities have found that the firemen, pedalling through the narrow streets of the city, can often reach a fire before the fire engines using the congested main roads.
