F.O.L. equal pay call

(N.Z. Press Association)

AUCKLAND, Mar. 17.

The national executive of the Federation of Labour has urged unions to fight for the introduction of equal pay immediately. In a directive, the F.O.L. recommended that affiliated unions, in conciliation or in direct bargaining with employers, should make every effort to obtain equal pay for female workers. The national executive said it had accepted the recommendations of the Equal Pay Commission but not the date for implementing the decision.

“The Government, as a member nation of the International Labour Organisation, has a responsibility to introduce legislation so that equal pay conies into effect immediately.”
