Warning to hippies

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright)

NAIROBI, March 9. The Kenyan Vice-President (Mr Daniel Arap Moi) has given a warning that hippies with long, shaggy and unkempt hair are not welcome in Kenya, and will be turned back at Nairobi Airport. Mr Moi told a mass meeting at Mere, 110 miles from Nairobi, yesterday that Kenyans could not allow their traditional culture to be submerged by “this peculiar foreign culture.” Mr Moi, who is also Minister o' Home Affairs, described hippies as “people who come to Kenya barefoot, looking as if they are poor, although they are not.”
