Oyster prices
Sir,—The shortage of oysters in Christchurch at 55 cents a dozen worries me not, because, like most people on a budget, I simply cannot afford them. In the event of the national reunion of the 28th Maori Batallion in Christchurch at Canterbury Court from March 31 to April 2, if the city business houses will let their “hair” down and provide the oysters, it can be proved that a healthy Maori can knock back six dozen raw before the pork and puha hits the deck. . However, the oyster would look more comfortable with the crayfish on a plush cushion in the jeweller’s window with a bottle of Chanel No. 5 than in the fish shop, at its present price.—Yours, etc., TAHERE DANSEY.
