HAMILTON, March 9.
■■ Fhe women’s vote is very important ... it will determine this election,” said the Labour member of Parliament for Roskill (Mr A. J. Faulkner) at Hamilton.
Mr Faulkner had just arrived from Auckland to lead a four-man party of Labour politicians on a meet-the-people visit to Hamilton. He said his party’- platform for women would cover equal pay and a stable cost of living. “I regard people as people, whether they are men or women,” Mr Faulkner said “And there is no doubt that women are playing an increasing part in our capacity to increase productivity. “Without women in indus-
try we would be right in the i gun. We live in a time of change, and women’s contribution to industry symbolises this change.” Mr Faulkner was joined later by Messrs J. H. Williams (Wairarapa). M. R. L. Bailey (Heretaunga), and G. Christie (Napier). After a mayoral reception, they began an intensive tout of industries, leaving time for panel discussions and addresses to university students.
