DHOW AT PEAK

Dhow sprinted attractively in training at Riccarton yesterday to retain her position as favourite for the Oamaru Jockey Club’s South Island Futurity Stakes. With her race rider, N. Cowles up. Dhow went clear of her stablemates, Nana Mouskourl (G. W. Mein) and His Bestone (M. Skelton), In the early stages of their half mile gallop on the plough and led by two lengths at the end. Dhow recorded 37sec for the final three furlongs. The training, 40ft out on the course proper, was distinguished by dashing sprints by Alamein and Carafin, which will start fresh campaigns at Ashburton next week.

Alamein started from the half mile a length behind Janita but finished with a lead of threequarters of a length and recorded $1 l-sseo.
