Invitation to attend U.N.

(N.Z. Press Association)

AUCKLAND, March 7.

One, and possibly both, of the anti-apartheid campaigners, Messrs T. 0. Newnham and T. Richards, will attend a special session of the United Nations Special Committee on Apartheid, in New York, from March 21 to 23. Mr Newnham, the secretary of the Citizens’ Association for Racial Equality, and Mr Richards, the secretary of Halt All Racist Tours, have cabled acceptance of an invitation from the committee, subject to financial considerations.

“We have not been able to find out if the invitation includes travelling costs,” said Mr Newnham today. “But even if we have to pay our own way, one of us definitely will go.”
