Hot March day
Saturday was Christchurch’s hottest day since the beginning of the year, 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) being recorded at the Botanic Gardens at 3 p.m., and 29.5 degrees being recorded at Christchurch Airport at the same time. On January 1, 33.6 degrees (about 92 degrees Fahrenheit) was recorded at Christchurch Airport. There were north to north-east winds on Saturday, and strong north-west winds yesterday morning until a change to the southwest, about 7 a.m.
