Labour law talks

<N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 22. The Minister of Labour (Mr Thomson) met the Employers’ Federation and the Federation of Labour today for “introductory talks.” He said he had expressed the hope that the new legislation on which both parties had been working to replace the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, would soon be before the Government.

"I hope the differences between them will be as narrow as possible. Ideally, we would like there to be none, but realism forces us to realise that there will be,” he said.

It is believed that the Government’s request to keep wage negotiations to a minimum during the six-week price freeze period was also discussed, but no agreement has been made on the awards to which this should apply-
