CHATHAMS SUPPLIES

(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON. Feb. 21. i “I do not agree that die circumstances of the present delay in the Holmdale’s sailing to the Chatham Islands ' call for a full investigation into the shipping service between the mainland and the islands,” said the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Highet). He was replying to a statement by Mr T. M. McGuigan (Lab., Lyttelton). “The Department of Internal Affairs is in frequent touch with the resident commissioner at Waitangi,” said Mr Highet. “and advice received today is that no shortages of essential stores are expected before the estimated arrival date of the Holmdale which has been given by the Holm Shipping Company as February 29 for unloading on March 1.” All normal fuel requirements had been met without rationing, said the Minister.
