Parrot-fashion identification
(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) HAIFA, February 16. An African parrot in Israel has itself settled an argument over its ownership by singing a nursery rhyme in an unmistakably German accent. Mr Amos Meier had reported that his African parrot was missing, but said it could be easily identified because it spoke only German. The police tracked the bird to the home of one of Mr Meier’s neighbours, who maintained that it was not a fugitive and spoke no known language. The police decided to let the parrot speak for itself. For several hours it was mute. Then it burst into song in parrot-German, and Mr Meier went home in triumph.
