(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. A traditional appearance nas been preserved in the selection of ceremonial dress for the New Zealand team for ♦he Olympic Games in Munich/ The men will have a singlebreasted black blazer, a pair of cream trousers and cream hat with a black band bearing the words "New Zealand.” A white shirt will be also worn on such occasions—principally the opening and closing ceremony—and a pair of white buffalo-grain shoes.
The fashion-conscious clothing commitee has made one change by opting for a wider black and white striped loop -. tie if available.
The women’s ceremonial outfit is a white crimplene dress, a pink hat, a pair of white shoes, and a pair of gloves. The association has no objection to team members wearing shorts, but does not intend providing them. The committee chairman (Mr P. N. Robinson) said Holeproof <N.Z.), Ltd, had donated $4OOO toward the cost of outfitting the team, which would cover the cost of the travelling uniforms and blazers.
Competitors will not be the only members of the New Zealand team to undergo a rigorous medical examination beforehand. The Games Association’s executive has decided to require all nominees for official positions with the team to undergo a full examination.
Dr D. R. Tipping, who represents boxing, and is a member of the Wellington executive of the New Zealand Federation of Sports Medicine, said he believed the officials should have a certificate to show their competence to carry out the job. Officials in the team include the manager, assistant-manager, chaperon, team doctor, physiotherapist, and the various section managers.
