Joint wool selling “not close”
The day when Australia, South Africa and New Zealand market their wool clips jointly is not just around the corner. This was made clear in Christchurch on Friday by the chairman of the Wool Board (Sir John Acland).
It had been suggested to him that after the meeting of representatives of the three countries in Wellington this week, the most significant statement was that of the Wool Marketing Corporation Establishment Company that there were no plans among them for joint control of wool marketing. Each of the countries would retain complete sovereignty over the marketing of its clip, he said, but they would co-operate in every wav possible. Sir John Acland said that a factor in the situation was that the three countries were in the process of establishing marketing organisations. The wool commissions of the three countries had been
meeting for the last year so that they could understand each other in the wool field, and he expected that this co-operation would continue.
