Rhodesia
Sir, —“M.C.H.” imagines “many other readers” want to assess G. H. Johnson’s values, but what about his own? Frankness and honesty are expected to be more than just stating obvious fact. Even now, when the truth is that he should not have tried to explain what he cannot comprehend, he implies he can comprehend “the common human physical, mental, moral, and spiritual attributes” of black Africa. Apparently he can explain all these without ever being there. Let’s hope no-one explains that an African guerrilla making a revolting oath of allegiance involving a ram and a menstruating virgin is, frankly, a gorilla. —Yours, etc., A. B. CEDARIAN.
