Campbell Park School

Sir, —How right you are regarding the need for smaller residential schools for retarded children near enough to their own family homes to permit relatives to keep in touch regularly. Out of sight can be out of mind, for both aged and retarded children,

while some institution takes the responsibility off their hands for those who should care most for their welfare. Mrs Marie Killea, “Karen’s” mother, fought all authorities to keep her daughter, being certain that physical and mental health could result from right love and persistence. She proved, her case, winning the right to attention, welfare, and scientific investigation for all children otherwise doomed to mental hospitals.—Yours, etc.,

BIRTHRIGHT. February 10, 1972.
