TRIBUNAL HEARING
Policemen to appear (N.Z. Press Association/ DUNEDIN, February 10. Nine policemen will face charges of breaching police regulations when they appear at a disciplinary tribunal hearing beginning in Dunedin ! next Tuesday.
The charges arise from alleged incidents at the Alexandra blossom festival last September, and the hearing is expected to last three days.
The tribunal will be conducted by a retired Christchurch Magistrate (Mr E. A. Lee), and the Crown Prosecutor (Mr N. Williams), will present the cases against the nine men.
The hearing will begin in Dunedin but will be switched to Christchurch before completion so that ail witnesses and defendants can be heard.
Thirty-six policemen were stationed in Alexandra during the opening week-end of the blossom festival and a record 33 arrests were made—l 4 more than in the same weekend the previous year.
