<N Z. Pratt Attociation: HAMILTON. A title-holder 15 years ago is well placed to repeat her 1957 success at this year’s New Zealand women’s bowling fours championship.

Mrs L. Fowler (Heme Bay) survived three rounds of post-section play yesterday to lead her team into the last

16. She defeated Mesdames F. Kemp (Papakura), 31-4, R. Walker (Gonvilie), 24-18, and T. Settle (Hinuera), 33-7.

Mrs Walker was one of the six teams who went through section play undefeated to be eliminated yesterday. In fact, the only survivor of the unbeaten teams was that skipped by Mrs B. Cherri (Lower Hutt). Mesdames A. Hamblyn (Riverside, East Coast), V. Brittain (Blockhouse Bay)

and R. Smith (Whangarei) went out in the first round of the post-section play yesterday morning. They were followed in the next round by the 1964 winner, Mrs S. Winstanley (Marewa), while another of the unbeaten group, Mrs P. Dymond (Stratford), after gaining a narrow win over Mrs A. Russell (Whangarei), 19-18, went down to Mrs V. Spain (Manurewa), 15-26, in the second round. The last 16 are: Mesdames Fowler, Cherri, N. Dunn (Wairere), J. Ryan (Onehunga), B. Fitzell (Matamata), D. Smith (Ngongotaha), D. McQuarrie (Roskill), P. Pamment (Katikati), E. Potter (Auckland), V.- Burrows (Morrinsville), J. Moody (Seatoun), L. Potter (Parnell), M. Potiki (Miramar), I. Johnstone (Avondale), M. Bates (Paritutu), E. Bardell (Omarunui).

Diving.—The New Zealander. Miss G. Morley, won her second Australian 3-metre diving championship tn Brisbane this week. Miss Morley, formerly of Napier, has lived in Brisbane for four vears and gained a bronze medal for Australia at the Edinburgh Commonwealth Games. Team manager.—Mr Roger Pegram, aged 49, of Sydney, has been elected manager of the Australian swimming team for the Olympic Games.in Munich. He managed the team in Rome in 1960.
