Dent, 6-4, 6-4, in reaching the second round of the United States professional tennis championship yesterday. Other results were: A. D. Roche (Australia) beat A Stone (Australia, 6-7, 6-3, 6-3; R. C. Lutz (United States) beat R. Carmichael (Australia), 6-4, 6-4; T. Okker (Netherlands) beat T. Leonard (United States), 6-2, 6-4; T. Addison (Australia) beat I. El Shafei (Egypt), 6-4, 2-6, 6-4; R. Laver (Australia) beat R. Maud (South Africa), 6-3, 6-2.
