Old look on railway line
“The Railways Departmen says it has adopted a nev look, but apart from th*. Southerner, that’s where it ends,’ said Cr R. S. Mayer, at a meeting of the Paparua County Council. He said the verges of the main line between Parker Street and Islington were a disgrace, with grass 3ft high and the fences falling over. “Every day you see todd. lers crossing the line,” said Cr Mayer. “We should ask the railways to get a move on with the wire mesh fence they said they were going to put up six months ago.” “They are now saying they want an ordinary wirefence. We can’t get any satisfaction,” said the county engineer (Mr A. Dyhrberg). The council decided to ask the department to take action.
