MOTOR SHOW
“Motoring through the ages” is the theme of the motor show which will be held at Canterbury Court to coincide with the 13th International Vintage and Veteran Car Rally. The show will run from Saturday, February 12, to February 18. On Saturday it will open at 2 p.m. and close at 10 p.m., on all other days it will be open from noon to 10 p.m. The show will comprise about 200 vehicles ranging from 1901 models to the latest 1972 cars—and it will include steam, electric, and internal-combus-tion vehicles, as well as many unusual and exotic models from overseas. All types of cars, including racing cars, will be on display, as will
some historic commercial vehicles. On two evenings there will be special “onemake” displays: on Monday, February 14, there will be nine Fords, from the earliest to the latest, on show; and on Tuesday, February 15, there will be a special Jaguar display. An important feature of the show is that the vintage and veteran vehicles on display will change from day to day, as some come in from completing one part of the rally route, while others leave for the next “leg.”
The show, one of the biggest ever in Christchurch, has been organised by a 12-man committee of the Canterbury branch of the Vintage Car Club.
Admission will be 50c for adults, and 20c for children.
