Art award to Gisborne

The Gisborne Art Gallery and Museum was yesterday selected by ballot to receive the latest Peter Stuyvesant Foundation award for the' purchase of contemporary I works by artists who have lived in New Zealand for three years or more. The Robert McDougall Art Gallery won the last award three months ago and with the $5OO has bought “Recession,” by a young Wellington painter, Brent Wong. Yesterday’s ballot was drawn at the Robert McDougall Art Gallery by the Deputy Mayor of Christchurch (Cr R. M. Macfarlane).
