HUMBOLDT

Alexander von Humboldt, the famous 18th century scientist and writer, is perhaps best known for the prodigious four-year journey he took across South America and for the Pacific current which bears his name.

Mexico, particularly, revers Humboldt as one of the men who helped to found the country’s independence from Spain. In a 8.8. C. documentary Robert Cundy follows Humboldt’s path across Mexico from ocean to ocean and as he recreates the journey of 1803-4 captures something of the atmosphere of this land that Humboldt found so challenging. “The World About Us: The Perfect Traveller,” screens from CHTV3 next Friday.
