N.Z. women win

(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) SYDNEY. The New Zealand women’s cricket team began its Australian tour with a sound win over the New South Wales under 2a side at the WlUs Ground yesterday. New Zealand. 108 and 193 for four declared, defeated New South Wales 73 and 131 in a onesided match. The young home side had no answer to the aggressive hotting and accurate bowling of the New Zealanders. Good running between wickets was a feature of the New Zealand batting as the slowmoving New South Wales side had singles taken off their poor fielding. S. Cowles was in fine form for the visitors. She scored an unbeaten 56 and was in complete command of the young New South Wales attack. Her late cuts were a delight to watch. The second top scorer for the New Zealanders was the opener, J. Doull, who scored 53 before being run out. J Lord captured four for 28 in the first innings and five for 35 in the second, and S. Early took two for two in the New South Wales first innings.
