Cycle trip for charity

SYDNEY, January 2. A 50-year-old great-grand-mother, with 106 grandchildren is travelling 1500 miles across the outback of Central Australia on a bicycle in an attempt to raise $90,000 for charity. Mrs Hazel Koch is riding her bicycle, a Christmas gift from her husband, from her home in the mining town of Mount Isa, in north-western Queensland, to Alice Sprngs in the centre of Australia, and back.

She hopes to raise money from sponsors of the trip to build a youth centre for children in her home town. Mrs Koch, who also has 15 children and one great-grand-child, left Mount Isa four days ago and hopes to complete her round trip within 12 days.
