Drowning figures

The national drowning toll, giving the number of drownings and the areas in which they occur, will be published each week for five weeks, starting on January 10.

The chairman of the National Water Safety Committee (Mrs G. J. Taylor) said it was hoped that the publication of weekly figures which gave a running report of the fatalities would bring home to everybody the importance of sound water sense and safety.
