New call to Libya
(N.Z.PA.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, Dec. 29. Britain has called on Libya to restore the nationalised assets of the British Petroleum (BP) company, or make full reparation. The demand was made in a stiffly-worded protest note handed to the Libyan Ambassador (Mr Khairv Ben Amer) at the Foreign Office. The Libyan Embassy in London maintains Libya’s nght to take over the oil company’s concession. But it says that the company probably will be paid all the compensation to which it is entitled. This is the second time that Britain has lodged a protest against Libya’s seizure. The BP assets are estimated to be worth between £6om and £loom.
