Christchurch yesterday had the second-hottest day of the summer, the temperature at Christchurch Airport at 5 p.m. being 28deg. The highest figure so far this summer has been 29deg on December 16. By 6 p.m. yesterday, the reading had fallen to 26deg, while at 10 p.m. it was 22 deg. The warm temperatures were expected to continue during the night. On Tuesday night, the humidity reached 95 per cent, and a minimum temperature during the night of 15deg made the temperature seem higher.
